Emerald Hill...

 

Singapore has a number of shophouses scattered across the island, mostly in central Singapore.  They're brimming with history, and as the name suggests, they usually are a shop downstairs and residential space upstairs. These days, many of those that were not demolished have been bought over to be purely residential.

These beauties at Emerald Hill, right smack in the city centre, may look small, but they're huge because they're built long. Their beautiful, ornate facades and quaint windows have so much character.
