Reading List

I was at Kinokuniya the other day, passing some time whilst waiting for a friend when this book literally stopped me in my tracks.

Maybe it was the contrast of the yellow lemons and the sky blue background (I'm very visual), or maybe it was the title, it kind of reminded me of Lemony Snicket for some reason and the photo and Lemony Snicket just didn't gel.

And as I read the blurb, it really captured my full attention. It's a deeply emotional, and personal book.

Taken off goodreads.com:

"On the eve of her ninth birthday, unassuming Rose Edelstein bites into her mother's homemade lemon-chocolate cake and discovers she has a magical gift: she can taste her mother’s emotions in the slice. To her horror, she finds that her cheerful mother tastes of despair. Soon, she’s  privy to the secret knowledge that most families keep hidden: her father’s detachment, her mother’s transgression, her brother’s increasing retreat from the world. But there are some family secrets that even her cursed taste buds can’t discern."

What do you think? Are there any books that you guys can recommend? :)
